Holding a specific significance in the Indian economy, travel and tourism is known as the engine of growth. Being a tourist spot, India offers diverse experiences and schemes to immerse in its essence.
To support the tourism industry our government has provided us with several schemes and subsidies that boost the economy of the nation. These can be named as, PRASHAD Scheme, Capacity Building for Service Providers (CBSP) Scheme, Swadesh Darshan Yojana, and so on.
The motive to launch these schemes is to focus on developing and distinguishing pilgrimage sites along with encouraging domestic travel.
Today in this blog we will elaborate on the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, so without waiting time scroll down to know more about it!
What is the Swadesh Darshan Yojana?
In 2014-15, our Hon'ble PM launched the mantra of ‘vocal for local’ with the scheme ‘Swadesh Darshan’. This scheme seems to accomplish Aatmanirbhar Bharat while offering potential tourist destinations.
The Swadesh Darshan Yojana was launched in view of a holistic mission to develop sustainable and organized spots for tourism. Also, to position the tourism sector as a major aspect of job creation and building synergy.
Why was the Swadesh Darshan Yojana launched?
Due to the unplanned growth of tourism, several tourist spots are going through a downfall, impacting the local environment and culture. This has led to over-tourism along with the degradation of the atmosphere.
To reduce such a negative impact on tourism, sustainability is the key. And to attain that sustainability, the government has launched Swadesh Darshan Yojana. The scheme encourages opting for principles like economic, environmental, and socio-cultural sustainability.
